Medicines

Medicines in School

Under certain circumstances it may be necessary for children to receive medication during the school day:

·         In cases of long term complaints or chronic illness eg asthma, diabetes etc

·         Cases where children recovering from short term illness are well enough to return to school but are still receiving a course of antibiotics, cough medicine etc.

In order to be able to do this the medicine must be taken to the office for permission to be granted, and for a consent form to be signed.

Please note that, where permission has been granted, staff cannot guarantee to administer medicine at a particular time (unless this is part of a health care plan). If you require medicine to be given at a particular time you will be able to come to school to administer your child’s medicine
